So, Pagoda Inn is definitely up there in my top favorites as far as Chinese goes. The food is really good the only problem is that it is kind of over priced. The scorpion & volcano bowls are very strong and worth the money, I just wish the combo plates were a bit cheaper. The crab rangoon are delicious and always hot and fresh. I love the dim lighting and the girl who always waits on us is professional and polite which makes me come back. Just a tip too, if you order take out on NYE make sure you call about an hour before picking up because it gets busyyyyy and crowded!!

Hmmm, I think I'm going to have to give this place another shot. I mean, the reviews say I'm wrong, everyone around town say I'm wrong, my *family* and *friends* say I'm wrong. So..... I just moved back to Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago, so, that means lots of restaurants, take out and prepared food. I remember Pagoda Inn having pretty tasty food, but of course things can change over the course of 6-7 years. I decided to get something simple to tide me over, and yes, I agree with the other reviews, things seemed pricey. Although, I just assumed a couple more dollars meant great ingredients and seemed very optimistic. Sadly, that was not the case. I ordered a combination platter #30, (Boneless spareribs, beef teriyaki, chicken fingers and fried rice). Boneless Spareribs: good taste, but tougher than jerky. Pretty much inedible. Disappointing since that took up most of container and I came close to just throwing the stuff out. (Thank heavens for men who will consume anything! Beef Teriyaki: I remember eating this years ago and it being *delicious*. It was just as yum, yum, yummy. Melts in your mouth and very tasty. Chicken Fingers: Decent batter, not too greasy. More batter than chicken really, but still tasty. Fried Rice: Not out of this world, but add some soy sauce and it's pretty good.

I regularly get take-out from here. Love the Pagoda duck. It also has by far, the best spring roll ever. It's fried perfectly. You get a dark colored duck sauce.

My boyfriend is a Chinese Fried Dumpling connoisseur. It took him years to get to this point, and he assures me he knows where to find the best dumplings. Well, Pagoda has some of the best around! The food here is good Americanized Chinese Food. Everything I have ever tried was super tasty and the service is very fast. We usually sit at the bar so we can watch whatever game is on, and the bartender is incredibly nice! There is never a wait for a table, and you can get in and out quickly if that is your wish.

Awesome Americanized Chinese food. This was the place to go for me and my friends growing up in Exeter/North Kingstown. Returned for a visit a few months ago and the food is still good. However we found it has become very expensive as far as run-of-the-mill Chinese is concerned. Everything on the menu is like $2 to $6 more than anywhere else I know so they lose a star for that.

I normally get takeout from this restaurant and I keep coming back. The General Tso chicken from here is excellent and they always get my order correct. My Chinese food place of choice.

Ordered take-out, Egg roil was over-fried and greasy, but marginally acceptable. Pork fried rice was marginal - mostly overcooked rice with little flavor. Chicken chow mien was completely nondescript - a few pieces of bland, dry chicken, some vegetables, and tons of gooey sweet sauce. Bordered on inedible.

I got take out from here on a Wednesday night. Typical pick up time of 15-20 minutes. The food was not good, even though portion size was decent. The scallion pancakes were over fried. They were just like really bad crackers. The General Tso chicken was not flavored- very bland and hard. Wouldn't go back.

The waitress did not know much about the menu, vegetarian version of any combination plate would have run me over $17! The general Tso tofu was absolutely disgusting. Overcooked and bland food. Will never go back again.

Since we moved from West Warwick we have been looking for a new chinese restaurant to dine at first glance we thought it was a just a place to stay the night. One night we decided to take a chance and try the food at this place. We were pleasantly surprised and this is now our go to place for our chinese food cravings.

Why 5 stars? I've been to Pagoda Inn close to 20 times all for take out. Every time I go, I order with 1 or 2 other people and we are picky. We ask them every time to exclude something or include something and EVERY TIME, they get it right. We tend to go around 1 pm on the weekday and most of the time this place is empty. Seven Moons is getting all the traffic. Pagoda Inn has some of the best fried rice around and they use real chicken and pork with no fatty pieces like some other places. Chicken teriyaki is also pretty good. Like I said, this place has good food but my 5 stars come from the great service that has yet to screw up an order for a couple of picky guys. There is a large seating area inside, big screen TV with a full bar. Prices are what you would expect at a Chinese restaurant.

I was excited to eat here, as I had driven by several times and was captivated by the classic "pagoda style" sign...thought the kitsch factor would give it some Chinese food street cred...however... Pretty atrocious Chinese food...not only was the food lousy, but it came out in drips & drabs - my party of 3 each practically ended up eating at different times...not quite sure how you screw that up when the PLACE IS EMPTY... avoid...I have sadly had better Chinese food at Panda Express...

Pagoda doesn't blow my mind, but it does the trick. I generally order the same things and my husband and I always opt for take out.

Do you ever get the craving for just standard "American-style" Chinese food? I'm talking fried rice, chicken fingers/wings, a PuPu platter, or some lo mein, egg drop soup, egg rolls and General Tsao's chicken? Well this place has it all, and nothing else. No sushi, or thai food, or teppanyaki grills here. But what's wrong with that? I love coming here for that regular Chinese food, and the combination plates are generally inexpensive with good-sized portions. And the scorpion and orgy bowls aren't too bad either.

This place serves decent enough Chinese food and has been around forever. My problem with it isn't the quality of the food, its with the take out and what a rip off it is. They give the smallest portions I have ever seen in Chinese take out. They even rip you off on the rice which is cheap and a lot of other places load you up on. Seriously, when was the last time you ordered Chinese takeout and finished your whole meal. They always give you more than enough. This place is a rip off for anything you order as take out. And they even have the audacity to charge you more than the strip mall place just up the street and is just as good. Avoid, they are a cheap and you will only get ripped off...

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
